The Science Is Correct, You're Just An Arsehole

Today should have been a nice day in the city meeting my friend for lunch. I guess I should have been wary when I noticed the increased police presence. My friend and I thought it was for the filming Brendan Fraser was doing, giggling about the possibility of catching a glimpse of a childhood crush. The reality was far less sexy.

Making a turn onto Buchanan Street, we were met with the stupidest protest I have ever had the misfortune to witness. Did you know Covid wasn't real? That *retches* ThE mEdIa Is ThE ViRus? No, you didn't, because you're not a fucking idiot. Or at least, I hope you aren't.

Yet here there were, hordes of moronic individuals waving placards with varying degrees of insanity written on them, and 0 actual factual evidence. No masks in sight because "they're oppressive". If there's a covid spike in Glasgow this weekend you know who to thank.

Even more galling was the insinuation made by various participants that if you get vaccinated against THE VERY TRANSMISSABLE VIRUS you won't get into heaven. If such a place existed I'm pretty sure refusing to get a free, harmless vaccine to protect those who can't knocks some good points off your ledger.

How did we get here? Could this all be linked to c*nservative MP Michael Gove's statement that people don't trust experts anymore? To question peer reviewed and corroborated evidence that shows Coronavirus is most definitely real?

Even without the science, all of our lives have been touched by this illness. I've lost 2 neighbours to it. Friends and family members have caught it. There is no doubt in my mind covid is dangerous and very real and more importantly, here to stay.

Seeing all these people march "unvaccinated and unafraid" made me feel so many things. Anger, obviously. Dismay. Most prevalent however - disappointment.

I had heard of these protests happening elsewhere, but to happen in my home city? Glasgow, I had thought better of you. Glasgow to me stood for honesty and straightforward thought. For compassion and community. People make Glasgow after all. I guess this just proves George Carlin right though: "Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups".

Before I explode with anger let's end with some facts. Covid is real. The vaccines are safe. The sky is blue. T*ries are cunts, and so are you if you refuse to get vaccinated for any reason other than a medical one. I'm not an expert, you can trust me.
